The facilities committee of the Amity Regional Board of Education will meet Tuesday, September 7th at 6 PM in the Superintendent's Conference Room at Amity High School.
The meeting will discuss the conversion of a choral room to a black box theatre, the roof of the school, possible action to adopt a green cleaning program and information on lighting upgrade at the high school
There will be a special board of education meeting in the Media Center at Beecher Road School on Tuesday, Sept. 7th to
Act on a Staff Resignation, Ratify the Appointment of an Interim Principal and Discuss Board Goals for 2010/11.
An executive session will start at 6:30 PM and a public session will begin at 7:00 PM.
Join the Fall Book Discussion Series entitled O is for Outstanding at the Town Library. Yale Associate Dean Mark Schenker will lead a series of discussions on four outstanding literary works across a range of genres: drama, short story, novel, and poetry.

The Eighth Annual "Evening for the Arts" Benefit will take place Saturday Sept 11, 2010 at the Regina A. Quick Center in Fairfield CT at 7:30 PM, with a reception and auction preview starting at 6 PM. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door.

About the Jamie Hully Arts Foundation, Amity Superintendent John Brady writes:
I want to make you aware of the Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation which plays a very active role in supporting the arts in Amity at both the middle school and the high school levels through grants for teachers at the middle schools and through the visiting artist program, the annual film festival awards, the drama production grants, and the college scholarships for students going into theatre and studio art.
Back to School Night for Grades 3 and 4 as well as for the Multi Age Group program is Tuesday, September 14th, starting at 6 PM.
Update:The MAG Back to School Night is postponed until September 21st.
Scheduled to avoid the Rosh Hashanah holiday on their usual second Wednesday. At the Country Club of Woodbridge,
11th and 12th Grade Back to School Night is scheduled for Wednesday September 15th starting at 6:30 PM starting in the school auditorium.
The next regular meeting of the Woodbridge Inland Wetlands Agency will take place Wednesday, September 15th at 7:30 PM at the Town Hall Central Meeting Room.
The next regular meeting of the Woodbridge Board of Finance will take place Thursday September 16th in the Town Hall Main Meeting Room starting at 6 PM
Back-to-School night is next Thursday, September 16 and will start promptly at 7:00PM...but parents are encouraged to be there by 6:30 PM to get a reasonably good parking spot, find their first period class, and help support the PTO. The PTO will have samples of "Amity Wear" for viewing along with
forms for ordering...and also will be selling raffles for gift baskets.
The next regular meeting of the Conservation Commission is Thursday, September 16th at 7 PM in the Town Hall Board room.
The next regular meeting of the Woodbridge Board of Education will be held at the Media Center at Beecher Road School Monday, September 20th at 7 PM. It will be proceeded by an executive session which starts at 6:30 PM.
The next regular meeting of the Woodbridge Board of Fire Commissioners will take place Tuesday, September 21st at 6 PM at the Fire Station meeting Room.
The Back To School night for Kindergarten, Grades 1, and 2 and for the Multi Age Group Program (MAG) is scheduled for 6:30 PM, Tuesday September 21st.
Michael Derouin will present a floral class at the Woodbridge Town Library, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 7:00 PM.
The movie Letters to Juliet will be presented at the Woodbridge Public Library on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:00 PM.
Senior Parents Night at Amity High School will be held on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m. The Senior Parents Night program will begin in the auditorium with opening remarks from the Director of Counseling Services, Dr. Jason Tracy. Senior parents will then meet in small groups with their student's counselor. Senior parents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this important opportunity to gather critical information about the college/university search and application process, and planning for life after high school.
The first PTSA meeting of the year is scheduled for Thursday, September 23rd at 7:30 in the Library Media Center.
Last year, the Beecher Road PTO started a new tradition - Social Night for each grade/year! They were such a great success that the PTO is continuing them this year.
The Kindergarten Social Night takes place September 24th.

The first Beecher Road School PTO meeting of the 2010-2011 school year will take place on September 27th. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
All PTO meetings this year will have babysitting services for any parent attending the meeting. Addition details to follow.
A pot luck dinner will be held in the Beecher Road Cafeteria on October 1st for past, present and future Multi-Age Group or MAG families.

The next regular meeting of the Woodbridge Police Commission will take place Wednesday, October 6th at 6 PM in the Woodbridge Police Department Training Room.

Tonight, Thursday, October 7 at 7:00 pm on Connecticut Public Radio's "Where We Live" show, Woodbridge resident, Jon Gorham, joins John Dankosky, Bill McKibben, Dan Esty, and others to discuss the upcoming global work party this Sunday, 10-10-10. Bill McKibben will describe this global event that is taking place in nearly 7,000 places in 188 countries around the world. Jon will then talk about the two work parties that will be taking place right here at Massaro Farm in Woodbridge this Sunday. Woodbridge residents are all encouraged to join the afternoon's work party at Massaro Farm from 2-4 pm.
