Laurent Blanc Says Champions League is Club’s Driving Force

Laurent Blanc the manager of Paris Saint-Germain is not concerned that his star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not scoring this season.Blanc has said his club could lose points in Ligue 1, the topflight football league in France, because winning the Champions League is what had been and continues to drive his players.

Following a superlative run of four victories across four matches, the defending champions of the league have seen their form sputter with a draw to Bordeaux at home and one on the road to Reims.

However, PSG remains at the top of the Ligue 1 table. The club is four points as well as four places higher this season compared to last year after the same number of fixtures had been played.

Ahead of their Tuesday match against Guingamp, Blanc told a local news conference that the start of each season for PSG is rather difficult.

He added that there is also the fact the Champions League is what motivates the club and that has only started.

Blanc said that everyone was of one mind and he would be the first to tell you for the Champions League you must have the best possible club and the most important players must be available and ready 100% mentally and physically.

Thus, for those top players to be 100%, because the key players at PSG are of an older age, the club is trying to put of system of rotation into the schedule.

Blanc said that the club knows very well that prior to the Champions League or following the end of the Champions League, the rotation is going to cost a club a few points at the league level due to some top players resting.

Blanc hopes that summer signee Angel Di Maria, who cost 63 million euros, will help PSG reach their ultimate goal of winning the top club competition in Europe.

The talented Argentine, who is 27, has shown already that he could be a crucial part of the club’s chances, scoring his first PSG goal in a 2-0 win against Malmo in their first group stage match.

Di Maria believes that talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be the key telling the official website of UEFA that he has played with Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney and now can enjoy playing with Ibra.

He said he did not realize just how talented the Swedish international is with all his moves even though he is so tall.
