Tickets for Amity High School Production of Les Miserables Now On Sale

Tickets for Amity High School’s production of Les Miserables are now on sale online. The production will run from April 30th through May 8th. If the show is anything like previous years shows, you won’t want to miss it, but you’ll have to buy your tickets early. The best seats disappear quickly and the shows often sell out.

Amity High School Theater Department is proud to announce that tickets for
our 2010 musical LES MISERABLES are now on sale. This exhilarating musical
voyage runs the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May for five
performances: Friday April 30th, Saturday May 1st, Thursday May 6th, Friday
May 7th, and Saturday May 8th with curtain at 7:30 pm. All seats are

The wait is finally over for the 8-time Tony Award winning musical that has thrilled audiences around the world. The Award winning Amity High School theater department is proud to announce its 2010 musical LES MISÉRABLES. This exhilarating musical voyage runs the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May for five performances only with opening scheduled for Friday April 30th, 2010 at 7:30 pm. LES MISÉRABLES is sponsored by Roll-A-Cover Intl. of Bethany and Apicella Adjusters Inc. of Orange and Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation, of Orange

"I am thrilled to bring this musical theater masterpiece to the Amity stage," said Director and Producer Robert Kennedy. "With co-direction and choreography by my talented wife Andrea Kennedy, audiences will experience Les Misérables as they never have before."

A unique production created solely for the Amity stage, LES MISÉRABLES is based on Victor Hugo's classic novel about ex-convict Jean Valjean and his attempts to start a new life as he is pursued relentlessly by policeman Javert over decades through the tumult of revolutionary France. This blockbuster musical also showcases a Tony Award-winning score including the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "One Day More," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "A Little Fall of Rain," "Master of the House," and "On My Own." LES MISÉRABLES features a book by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and music by Claude-Michel Schönberg.

According to LES MISÉRABLES director Robert Kennedy, the fact that the show is performed by young people plays a key role in this production. “Watching students perform this challenging material is really what makes this production special. The students are connected and invested in this epic story in a way that has to be seen to be believed. Our audiences will be dazzled!”

Les Misérables will feature senior John Jorge of Orange in the role of Jean Valjean. Amity audiences remember John from his unforgettable performance as Roger in last year’s smash production of RENT. In addition to Robert Kennedy (Director and Producer) and Andrea Kennedy (Director and Choreographer), the creative team for LES MISÉRABLES includes Christopher Hickerson (Musical Director), Phil Dolan (Orchestra Conductor), Julie Chevan(Costume Designer), Dan Hassenmayer (Lighting Designer). The student creative team also includes Amie Sandillo (Production Stage Manager), Veronica Wolanin (Assistant Producer), Molly Sachs, Joe Mortali (Assistant Stage Managers), and Alexis Parente (Assistant Costume Designer).
