The Amity 2010-2011 budget easily passed in light voting Wednesday. Preliminary results had 1003 yes votes to 435 no votes, or approximately 70%-30%. In Woodbridge, the tallying was recorded for WGATV and the registrars and their staff conscientiously made sure that those who wanted to observe the tallying had a good view. Besides being recorded for WGATV, results in Woodbridge were also streamed live on QIK and posted on Facebook.

On a town by town basis, the results were

Town Yes No Total
Bethany 234 113 347
Orange 400 204 604
Woodbridge 369 118 487
Total 1003 435 1438

More typo spotting?

I think perhaps in the original post, "conscientiously" is the word that was intended? If so, that brings to mind a process question we may want to transparentize here in the comments (yup, again I am Making Things Up on SNS -- from here on signified as MTUOSNS): So how does the Citizen handle corrections to posts? I have seen other blogs go back and use strikethrough on the typo and add the correct word, to indicate that the original post was corrected. But is this possible here, or would that alter the timestamp on the entry?

Typos

I have fixed the typo. To the extent that it is a simple typo, I think it is acceptable to change it without using strikeout. To the extent that there is something factually incorrect, then it is more important to use a strikeout, and/or to put an Update: at the bottom of the post.

I have the site set up to keep previous revisions. As a general rule, the timestamp remains the original timestamp, unless it is specifically changed.

As to SNS, for people not acquainted with the abbreviation, I am assuming Sheila is referring to Social Networking Site. It is probably important not to use abbreviations without explaining them, or making assumptions about how technologically adept the readers, or for that matter, the other writers on the website are.

SNS :-)

Yes, indeed. And here's a fun link for more detail on that concept (hint: it's not the entry for 'Spallation Neutron Source'):

Excellent, just like I was there! One thing to note: no, they are not doing a major construction project in The Center Gym. All that banging and clanking on the audio track was William and others putting away tables and chairs! Speciall thanks to all our fantastic, dedicated town employees, and all the extra help that turns out to get these referendums done on behalf of all citizens! You guys rock!

Sp?

Referendi? Referenda?

Different spelling options

Traditionally, the plural of Referendum would be Referenda, following Latin grammar. However, it has now become acceptable to use Referendums. In fact, my spell checker accepts Referendums but not Referenda. Referendi would not be the plural of Referendum. It would be the plural of Referendus, if such a word existed.

Making things up

You know I am Mayor of making things up on SNS, so perhaps I will use referendi more frequently to help consolidate my SuperUser status!
