The Amity Board of Education will have its regularly scheduled meeting on Feb 8th at 6:30 p.m., in the Presentation Room at the District Offices.

budget presentation on agenda(s)
The Amity Finance Committee, composed of 3 ABOE members and a member from each town's Board of Finance, usually meets just before the Board meeting, at 5:30pm. This month the AFC meets at 4:30pm. On the agendas for both meetings is a presentation of the Superintendent's Budget.
A few months ago, this presentation was scheduled for February 22. The scheduling was at the request of a past AFC member from the Orange BOF, based on the idea (last year) that budget decisions should be put off until everyone realizes just how dire the national financial situation is. That person was not reelected to OBOF last November; his replacement on AFC was appointed last month.
In previous years, AFC members from the towns has pushed for an earlier presentation of the Amity budget, so that they could plan their respective town budgets.
The regional school budget is decided by the electorate of the three towns at a referendum vote in the first week of May (or optionally at an Annual District Meeting, like the Town Meeting). Town budgets are not final until the Annual Town Meeting later in May (or a following referendum vote in the case of Orange and Bethany).
