Tiger Woods has played golf for the last time on 2o15. Woods announced Friday that he had successful back surgery earlier in the week and expects to return to golf in the early part of the 2016 season. This will be his second microdiscectomy surgery the first coming nearly two-and-a-half years ago in March 2014.
“This is certainly disappointing, but I’m a fighter,” Woods said in a statement. “I’ve been told I can make a full recovery, and I have no doubt that I will.” “I appreciate the fans’ concern and support,” Woods said on Friday.
“This is unfortunate, but these things happen. I’ve been injured before and played again. It won’t be any different this time.”
Woods, who holds the record for most weeks atop the world ranking at 623, is currently 283rd in those standings, however 2015 was rather un-eventfaul, failing to seriously contend in major championships and miss five cuts along the way.
“With the upcoming offseason, the decision was made to remove a small disc fragment that was pinching his nerve,” said surgeon Dr. Rich. “The microsurgery was a complete success, and he was discharged Thursday night.”
Woods, 39, will play his next competitive round of golf as a 40 year old. Woods birthday in December 30.
